How do parents claim a snack line?
Replying is the only gate. Once a parent has tapped Going, every open line grows an "I'll bring this" button — one tap puts their name beside it, and "Not any more" hands it back if the week falls apart. Every line on the class list is a single item, so there is nothing to type.
How do I keep it nut-free and store-bought?
The list says so itself: the fruit tray reads "store-bought, so the label stays on" and the crackers line reads "sealed packet please — the teacher checks labels". Add your own one-line note for everyone bringing food — "Nut-free please" — and parents see it above the list, again when they claim a line, and in the day-before email.
Do parents need an account?
No — no app, no password, nothing to install. They open the link, find their child's first name and reply. The one thing a first-time replier has to leave is a way for you to reach them, and they choose which: an email or a mobile number. It goes to you, never onto the guest list.
The roster I was handed is out of date — now what?
Switch on open RSVP and any parent with the link adds their own child, so the kid who joined in October gets on without you retyping anything. A name already on the list is caught and sent back to the search instead of doubling up, and the list holds 300.
