Is this only for kids' parties?

No. Setting up an invitation asks two things: who replies — parents for their children, or guests for themselves — and which of ten occasions this is: kids' party, class or school party, park party or BBQ, potluck dinner, housewarming, movie night, watch party, baby shower, holiday party, or any other get-together. Your answers seed a theme, the wording guests read (“your child” at a kids' party, “you” everywhere else) and which starter bring-list we suggest. Nothing is switched off by them — the waitlist, reminders, album, chat and bring list all work the same at a housewarming as at an eighth birthday, and both answers stay a dropdown away in Details.

Do guests need an account to RSVP?

Accepted Answer

No — nobody signs up for anything. Guests open your link, find their name on the list (or their child's, when parents are replying), tap going or can't make it, and leave an email or a mobile number so you can reach them. That's the whole reply. You choose whether the who's-coming list appears on the invitation at all, and it only ever shows the names on your list, reply status and a small +2 where someone is bringing kids along — never contact details or notes.

What happens when the party is full?

Set a cap and any reply that would go past it lands on a waitlist you can promote from as spots open up. You decide who replies — parents for their children, or guests for themselves — and the cap counts the same way. Your occasion just picks the default. When parents reply, it counts children rather than the parents staying — plus tag-along siblings, if you switched those on. When guests reply, it counts every person coming, so a guest who brings two friends uses three of your spots.

How do reminders work?

Messages follow the contact details people leave you: an email to anyone with an address who hasn't unsubscribed, a text to anyone whose mobile number is on file and still opted in, and nothing to a guest who left neither. Invitations go out that way, and anyone who still hasn't replied gets one automatic nudge one to three days before your RSVP deadline — or before the party itself, if you didn't set one. You can send a reminder by hand anytime too, to everyone outstanding or to a single guest. Separately, everyone who said yes can get a “see you soon” the day before, carrying the details, the calendar file and your waiver link.

What can I put in the invitation?

The title, your name as host, the date and time, and where it is — with an Open in maps link and a tap-to-copy address. Add a banner photo, pick a theme, and either write the invitation text yourself or let the built-in AI writer draft it from your details and polish what you've written. There's a wish list link that gets its own Gifts card, a waiver link for venues that ask for one, and you can replace the standard “Anything the host should know?” above the comment box with your own question. Every invitation has an Add to calendar button, and the invitation email carries the same .ics file.

How do I sort out who brings what?

Switch on What to bring and guests claim lines from a list — nobody is assigned anything. It starts on for the occasions where it usually matters, like a potluck or a park BBQ, and off for a plain birthday. Nine of the ten occasions come with a starter list you can rename, resize or delete line by line; “Any other get-together” has none of its own, so borrow whichever of the nine is closest, or type your own lines. Only the potluck list sizes itself to your headcount — for 24 people it asks for four hot mains, four sides, three salads and “Cups, plates & forks for 24”, then offers to top it up if more people say yes. The rest ship fixed quantities, like the class-party list's “Juice boxes (24-pack)” and “Nut-free crackers or pretzels — sealed packet please”. Where a line has several slots, claiming it asks what you're bringing, so you see “Chicken enchiladas” rather than “a side”.

Can guests share photos and videos from the party?

Yes — every invitation can carry a shared album, and it's on unless you switch it off. Guests add photos and videos straight from their phones with nothing but a name, no account and no app, and anyone with the link can browse them. Prefer it view-only? One toggle stops guest uploads while you keep adding from the Album tab. You can take any item out of the album, or delete it for good.

Can guests message each other?

Only if you want them to — the party chat starts off and stays off until you switch it on. Once it's on, anyone with the link can post under a name they pick, which is what makes it useful for carpools, running-late messages and who's collecting the cake. Your own messages carry a Host badge, and you can delete anything on the thread.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Party RSVP is free — no paid plans, no per-event fees, and no ads in front of your guests. Make as many invitations as you like: the class party in June costs exactly what the housewarming in March did.
